Coaching Services
I am happy to provide a wide range of coaching services as a part of my practice. My coaching style is holistic and client-focused: it truly is "all about you". With my guidance, support, and encouragement, we work collaboratively as you explore possibilities for change and growth.
In my practice, I use the GROW Model, developed by Sir John Whitmore, as the framework for my coaching sessions:
Coaching Defined
Coaching is defined by the International Coach Federation (ICF) as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” Professional coaching focuses on setting goals, creating outcomes, and managing personal change. Coaching is not therapy, counselling, counsulting, or mentoring. The key to successful coaching is a trusting, collaborative relationship between coach and client.
Coaching is often compared to therapy: therapy deals with healing pain, dysfunction and conflict within an individual or in relationships. The focus is often on resolving difficulties arising from the past that hamper an individual's emotional functioning in the present, improving overall psychological functioning, and dealing with the present in more emotionally healthy ways
Coaching, however, supports personal and professional growth based on self-initiated change in pursuit of specific actionable outcomes. These outcomes are linked to personal or professional success. Coaching is future focused. While positive feelings/emotions may be a natural outcome of coaching, the primary focus is on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in one's work or personal life. The emphasis in a coaching relationship is on action, accountability and follow through.
Because the two are entirely different types of practices, some clients will be working with a therapist while they are working with a coach. Together, they can provide a supportive foundation for the client.
As a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and a member of the ICF I am committed to its Code of Ethics. I have also met the professional coaching competency standards as a Board Certified Coach (BCC) and am bound by its governing body's Ethical Guidelines.

Life Coaching
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler." --Henry David Thoreau
Create your own life! As your coach, I strive to empower you to live your dream life because I believe in the principle that YOU have all the answers. Think about the areas of your life where you feel "stuck". I will guide, support and encourage you as you explore possibilities for growth and change; I will be your champion as you take action to maximize your personal and professional potential.
As a graduate of the International Coach Academy, I have been trained to coach clients to develop a sense of self-awareness and identify unique strengths that can be used to achieve self-defined goals. The coaching partnership facilitates accountability and is a great way to move forward in a trusting, judgement-free environment.
Academic
Coaching
Academic coaching is a working partnership that focuses on the ‘process of learning.' The first step is to examine students' learning styles, habits of working, and current difficulties or barriers to success. Then, working collaboratively as a team, we create and put in place more effective strategies that empower students to identify short- and long-term goals and establish a specific plan to meet those goals. The aim is to heighten awareness of what it takes to achieve academic success and anchor this with new strategies, a supportive relationship, and personal accountability.
I have been trained and earned a coaching certificate to work specifically with students diagnosed with ADHD or executive functioning disorder. In this area, my focus is to apply specific techniques to draw on students' strengths and work to improve overall functioning, e.g., sustained attention, task initiation, planning and prioritization, organization, and time management.

Family and
Youth Coaching
The truth is: living with other people is difficult, even if those people happen to be the ones we care most about in the world. Managing a good family dynamic takes time, patience and practice. Keeping all family members happy is no easy task - especially when you all have to live under the same roof.
Happy, peaceful family-life can only really be achieved with the perfect combination of compromise, order, mutual respect and understanding.
Family coaching sessions are designed to provide families with the tools and techniques to resolve conflicts, reach compromises and hopefully transform a difficult living situation into a comfortable one.
ADHD and Executive Function (EF) Coaching
I hold a certificate from and am a graduate of the JST Coaching company's premiere ADHD coach training programs: "Coaching Youth and Young Adults with ADHD"and "Coaching Children with ADHD, Executive Function, and Behavioral Challenges." I also have had the pleasure of working with students diagnosed with ADHD for more than ten years. I believe that at the very core of ADHD coaching is the recognition that students are bright, creative, and have a desire to do well. A diagnosis of ADHD means there is a neurological difference that affects students' behavior and ability to stay on task -- that there is a "disconnect" between ABILITY and PRODUCTIVITY.
In my work with students we focus on motivation, overcoming procrastination and perfectionism, and building self-advocacy skills and self-esteem. Working together, the student and I build on strengths to create and put a plan in place to achieve personal and academic success.
Adults diagnosed with ADHD also struggle with the same challenges: a weakness in executive functions (EF). My coaching style is strengths-based and holistic. I honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work or school, and believe that every client is creative, resourceful, and whole. Together we can find ways for you (or your student) to be successful at home, at work or school, and with peers.
